I am not a huge pusher of a lot of supplements, they are great for therapeutic reasons, to help chronic conditions, but I am a food person. I think changing your diet can dramatically change your life. However, we live in Canada, and in the winter (though not so much this year) it is dark, cold and we stay inside. The sunshine provides us with many things, vitamin D being one of them. Vitamin D has received so much press over the past five years it is incredible. I spent many years working in health food stores and there was always an “it” product. Vitamin D however is a good product to be popular! You don’t have to take it all year round, it is great for the whole family. It may help with depression, winter blues, bone health, skin health, immune health, asthma, brain function, and prevent diseases like MS. The best form to take it in is D3 because it is shown to be best absorbed in the body. Food source of D3 are quite low however it is in salmon, tuna and mackerel, beef liver, cheese and egg yolks.
One of the best ways is to get a liquid form and just take a drop a day with food (it is a fat and absorbs better with other fats) Look for a brand that does have lots of non medicinal ingredients like Ddrops!
